FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Some examples of specific activities and responsibilities of the Vegetable Research and Information Center include the following:

Publish an Annual Report highlighting recent accomplishments and documenting UC contributions to problem-solving research

Distribute a newsletter and provide source material for use by Farm Advisors in county-based extension programs

Write and publish extension bulletins, technical reports and analyses of issues critical to the vegetable industry

Organize statewide industry short courses

Provide administrative support for liaison with commodity research boards and other industry and public groups

Identify and maintain a database of UC personnel and projects related to vegetables

Implement an electronic communications network among participants in the Center

Organize campus seminars and develop materials for use in student recruitment

Actively seek and target special funds to priority research and outreach projects
