Needs and Objectives in Vegetable Research and Information

Develop a closer partnership with industry so that priority problems, issues and strategies for solution can be collectively addressed.

Develop linkages with new clientele/audiences. Consumers, resource agencies and organizations, and environmental groups are important partners for the future.

Foster interdepartmental, interdisciplinary and intercampus communication and collaboration.

Clear assignment and understanding of responsibilities, regardless of departmental boundaries, to better utilize human resources throughout the system, from the counties to the campuses.

Strengthen linkages with allied disciplines and programs within the UC. Nutrition, rural and community development, behavioral science, agricultural economics and others are all potential partners in addressing important issues.

Be more effective in documentation and dissemination of what has been and is being done in research and extension/outreach to address important agricultural issues.

Provide a focal point for vegetable issues for clientele both inside and outside the University
